Film producer Aleksi Bardy appointed professor at Aalto University

Film producer and screenwriter Aleksi Bardy (42) has been appointed Professor of Film and Television Producing at the Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture from 1 January 2013.
Aleksi Bardy is one of the leading forces in the Finnish film industry. During the last two decades, he has produced and written screenplays for numerous films and TV programmes. Bardy and his production company Helsinki-filmi have produced for instance the films Lapland Odyssey and Where Once We Walked . Besides these, Diary of a Drunk (Dictator Films) will premiere soon. Bardy has written scripts for both films (latest being The Border and Forbidden Fruit) and television series. He also has experience from several European co-productions and from film distribution in France, Germany and Sweden.
As his educational background, Aleksi Bardy has a Master of Arts degree from the University of Art and Design Helsinki (2000). He has taught screenwriting and film producing in media schools and universities in Finland and Sweden. President of the Central Organisation of Finnish Film Producers and a voting member of the European Film Academy, Bardy is an active actor in the field of film.

Bardy will carry on working as a film producer on permission for secondary occupation, but will pass over the main responsibility for leading Helsinki-filmi.
Bardy’s position (Professor of Practice in Film and Television, Film and Television Producing) at the Department of Film, Television and Scenography is for a fixed term of five years.
