– It is fantastic that Finland has been able to take part in an international task of such great impact. Aalto University wishes to participate in actively promoting the spread of design expertise throughout society. The World Design Capital Helsinki 2012 project and the ongoing structuring of a national design programme provide an exceptionally fruitful foundation for this work, states delighted Helena Hyvönen, Dean of the Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture.

Some of top names from the international design and business worlds will be present at the summit, including Deborah Dawton, the president of the Bureau of European Design Associations (BEDA), Guerlain Perfumer Thierry Wasser, Stefan Sielaff, Head of Group Interior Design Strategy at Volkswagen AG as well as Jyri Häkämies, Finland’s Minister of Employment and the Economy. There will also be speakers from small and medium-sized enterprise, industry and the public sector highlighting their experiences and viewpoints of innovation activity in the utilisation of design.
