Stora Enso announces the winner of Lumi Photographic Art Award
16.12.2011
The student of the School of Art and Design, Anne Golaz has been awarded the first Prize in the Lumi Photographic Art Awards 2011.
- Golaz’s collection impresses with its conceptual brilliance and clever storytelling. The images support each other to form an almost magical narrative, clearly arising from strong personal emotions, says the head judge, curator Jens Erdman Rasmussen from the Danish National Museum of Photography.
Students from twelve influential educational establishments specializing in visual arts were invited to participate in the contest, representing the United Kingdom, The Netherlands, Finland, Germany, Portugal and Spain. Invited candidates were encouraged to familiarize themselves with the properties and values of the LUMI Collection and the Stora Enso range of Lumi graphic papers: light, illumination, vitality and brilliance.
Stora Enso launched a contest in July 2011 in order to discover and promote new photographic talent. The contest was named LUMI Photographic Art Awards 2011, after Stora Enso’s prestigious LUMI Collection that comprises works from classic and modern masters of photography.
The First Prize winner (EUR 5,000) and the winners of the three Honorary Awards were flown to Helsinki, Finland, on December 15th to attend the Award Ceremony and reveal their works.
