Name ideas sought for a new school at Aalto University

The School of Art and Design and the Department of Architecture will merge to form a new school for Aalto University. Suggest a name for the new school and take part in the quest for name ideas!
The competition is open to everyone – students, staff, the alumni, cooperation partners and the public. The competition period starts on 5 September and ends on 23 September 2011. You may submit as many suggestions as you wish.
The name should
• highlight the image of the new school as a sought-after cooperation partner and a world renowned forerunner in research and education in the fields of architecture, media, art and design.
• spring from the school’s powerful impact on the Finnish society, economy and culture.
• reflect the school’s task as a developer of human-oriented and comprehensive environments that bring together different fields of expertise.
The name should be in the following format:
Aalto-yliopiston xxxx korkeakoulu
Aalto University School of xxxx
Högskolan för xxx vid Aalto-universitetet
You may suggest a name in one or all of these languages. The English names for the other schools of Aalto University are Aalto University School of Engineering, School of Economics, School of Chemical Technology, School of Science and School of Electrical Engineering.
The entries are presented to a jury, who will choose the name for the school from among the suggestions provided in the competition or make an independent decision on the name. The name for the new school will be published in autumn 2011.
The jury will be chaired by Communications Director Tapio Hedman. Other members of the jury are President of Aalto University, Prof. Tuula Teeri, Professor of Graphic Design Tapio Vapaasalo, designer Ilkka Suppanen; student members Kasperi Mäki-Reinikka (Tokyo) and Veera Tolvanen (Architect Guild); the steering group for the preparations for the new school: from the School of Art and Design, Dean Prof. Helena Hyvönen and Development Manager Pekka Saarela; from the School of Engineering, Head of Department Antti Ahlava from the Department of Architecture and Head of Department, Prof. Juha Paavola from the Department of Civil and Structural Engineering.
All contestants will enter a draw for an iPad and book prizes. The winners of the prizes will be notified in connection with the publication of the name.
